ADventure Lib has been released to the wild, wild web! It's making some people laugh, and others face-palm, but the consensus seems to be that people want more! Well, I'm not surprised... 20 minutes of AdLibs is better than 10 minutes of AdLibs...

So, the good news is that we have written an outline for a second, longer, campaign to the game, which we plan to release as a free update around the end of this year. We'll also be adding a campaign editor that will allow players to create and share their own campaigns to the game (and share them via Steam Workshop). I will be posting more announcements about this as it gets closer to completion!

Last, but certainly not least, we have added trading cards to the game! Play the game to collect them, swap them around with your friends to get all sorts of wacky combinations!

Charles, Elizabeth and a King! What are the chances?

ADventureLib was greenlit, and we've been hard at work adding the last finishing touches (and full voice acting, which really adds a lot to the game). We are set to release on Steam on August 4th, check out the store page here:

While there have been lots of improvements, bug fixes and final edits, the biggest change is the addition of voice acting. Hearing the ridiculous sentences created by mixing all the objects and characters spoken aloud really adds to the hilariousness.

The Royal Chipmunk - Indie DB

The game is pretty short, but has a lot of replayability and I’ve added the ability to create and share your own objects via Steam Workshop, which should add a lot of personalized and interesting combinations. The game is also highly moddable for anyone who wants to create entire scenes and stories of their own.

Look forward to the release, and feel free to be in touch if you have any questions about the game or modding it (I’ll be posting a guide on this later)!

Also, check out our (recently launched) homepage for ADventureLib: http://adventurelib.com/

Announcing ADventure Lib!

There is something distinctly odd about the world of ADventure Lib. Maybe it is the fire-breathing kitten that flew down from the mountains to besiege the castle. Or perhaps it is your beloved toilet who is not quite as clean or living as you imagined. Or maybe it's simply that you have no clue how to open the potato of legend to obtain the glorious golden peasants inside (although, on second thought, you begin to wonder why you wanted the glorious golden peasants in the first place...)

But all that is beside the point. As the brave and noble screwdriver, it is your duty to solve the problems in the land, not sit around contemplating the oddness of it. And, this is a good thing too, because as a screwdriver, you are noticeably lacking a mind with which to think.
This is just one possible scenario you might find within ADventure Lib. Try replacing the red words above with other random objects, and you might discover another possible scenario. You see, ADventure Lib is all about swapping the people, objects and items around in random and always ridiculous ways. To make this point a little clearer, here is the official trailer, with the narrator inexplicably swapped with a chicken:

To progress the story, you will need to figure out what is supposed to be what (with a few hints), and then make ridiculous combinations to solve outlandish puzzles. But, if you've played a point & click adventure before, you have probably already done something similar.

The random objects also allow for some great (and terrible) puns that will appear in different playthroughs based on what objects are swapped with what!

ADventure lib is a relatively short game that we made as an experiment/side project. It is close to done, with the only major feature missing right now being voice acting. Yes, I will be adding voice acting to the game, as it is too funny not to. It will be handled like those automated voice tellers, where the swapable words will be inserted cookie-cutter style. The game is also designed to be very mod-able, so if you want to add your own objects, translations, or even entire scenes/dialogue/events, that is all doable without a line of code (just mucking about some XML files). If you're interested in learning more, just leave a comment or send me a message!
